Photo by Ivan Gasparini Venice, Italy - An interactive installation with six touch screen terminals and eighty luminescent photographs brings beauty and grace to the Venice Pavilion Infospace at this year's Venice Architecture Biennale. The Grace Under Pressure project, developed by the architectural studio Cliostraat (Turin) and a team of staff and students of Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, allows visitors to browse the multimedia architecture and art collection of the Italian Cultural Ministry's Directorate-General for Architecture and Contemporary Art (DARC [Italian only]) within the agency's Biennale exhibition spaces. The DARC jury selected the project unanimously from over 170 competition submissions. On the terminals, visitors can access images and short video clips from the DARC's collection on the work of 100 architects. When an architect's work is selected, one of the luminescent portraits hanging in the exhibition space starts to glow, creating over time a scintillating display of the visitors' choices. Through the terminals, visitors can also express their opinion in a survey about projects shown and designers exhibiting at the Biennale. The results of this survey are shown on two screens outside the Infospace area. In its jury report, DARC highlighted the meaningfulness, feasibility, functionality and adaptability of Grace Under Pressure.
