Interaction Design is the design of the products and services made possible by information and technology, and the quality of people's interaction with them. Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, a graduate school and a knowledge exchange, studies this discipline and educates future designers in this emerging field.
As a practical art and a discipline in the making, without a full body of theory or long history of practice, interaction design must be investigated and taught by doing and reflecting - through design projects. As Kandinsky wrote in 1914: 'In art, theory does not precede practice, but follows her'.
This Almanacco is a record of these projects. The projects are cultural rather than technological investigations. They are widely diverse in their aim and subject matter. But all share a determination that information technology must not dominate or dazzle humanity, but instead, be used inventively to add meaning to everyday life and enhance its pleasure.
